Lifesaving South Africa (LSA) does an excellent job each season on our beaches by looking after hundreds of thousands of bathers. Since its inception, the organisation has rescued over 100 000 people. All the LSA lifeguards are volunteers giving up their time for a notable cause, keeping you and I safe from unpredictable water, weather and even sharks!
We all know that lifeguards play a hugely important role in our communities, but have you ever considered that as a non-profit organisation LSA mainly rely on sponsorship to ensure that their equipment, training and facilities are kept up to scratch?
To ensure that our LSA lifeguards maintain their high standards, Fanport approached LSA President, Dylan Tommy to help them raise funds in an entirely new and completely risk free way using custom apparel and merchandise that would be sold to the public through our online store.
For Dylan the partnership was one that made immediate sense to him. “I have been actively looking at new ways to raise funds for LSA and when Fanport approached me it was a no-brainer for us.”
The aim of the LSA apparel and merchandise is to activate the lifesaving community as well as the public at large. As with all new initiatives it starts small, however the early response to the LSA apparel has been extremely positive with numerous items sold all over the country including Pretoria and Johannesburg.
Dylan, who explained his vision during his visit to the Fanport offices said, “Although this was a great start, I encourage the lifesaving community to really get behind this initiative as it is something that can easily become a major source of funds for LSA each year.”
